Brief Summary of Each Supplement
Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement No. 124
Structure and Dynamics of Quantum Many-Body Systems
— Nonlinearity and Collective Motion—
Edited by H. Sagawa
Recently, several new topics are often discussed and attract many
scientists in the field of quantum many-body dynamics, especially,
nuclear and microcluster physics. These topics include new collective
phenomena and chaotic dynamics in quantum many-body systems, and also
physics of exotic unstable nuclei. This volume of Supplement is mainly
devoted to review the present status of new development of nuclear
physics and microcluster physics. Moreover, several current topics,
most notably on the physics of exotic nuclei, are included.
The manuscripts are based on lectures which were given in
International Workshop
``Structure and Dynamics of Quantum Many-Body Systems
— Nonlinearity and Collective Motion— ''.
This workshop was held at the Center of Mathematical Sciences,
the University of Aizu, August 19-22, 1995.
Three principal speakers of the workshop give in this Supplement
pedagogically written comprehensive reports on the structures of
metal clusters, quantum Monte Carlo shell model and quantum chaos.
These reviews include not only the material presented in these
speaker's lectures but also a good deal of additional material,
making for self-contained reports. These articles should be quite
useful for physicists, especially students, who wish to start a new
area of research. This volume also includes several contributions
on structure and reactions in unstable nuclei, one of the most
popular subjects in nuclear physics, today.
