This volume represents the Proceedings of the 5th International Summer
School/Conference ``Let's Face Chaos through Nonlinear Dynamics", held at the
University of Maribor, Slovenia, on 30 June -- 14 July, 2002. The papers
contained are not the written version of the presented lectures. Rather,
they are scientific articles based on — or related to — the invited
lectures and other contributions by other participants. They are either
original papers with a brief review, or largely review papers with some
new results. In this way, the proceedings convey the true spirit of the
School/Conference.
The range of research covered here is so broad that the present volume
would be more suitable to those who wish to survey the current status of
nonlinear science centered about chaotic dynamics rather than those seeking
detailed information on specified subjects of nonlinear dynamics. The topics
discussed include some recent problems in quantum chaos, statistical theory
of developed turbulence, near-integrable systems, pattern dynamics of
reaction-diffusion systems, dynamics of coupled oscillators, powder flow
dynamics, nonlinear dynamics in medical science.
