Physics of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems
Proceedings of the Yukawa International Seminar 2004 (YKIS2004)
Edited by Masatoshi Imada, Norio Kawakami, Hiroyuki Shiba and
Hirokazu Tsunetsugu
This volume is a collection of papers presented at the 12th
Yukawa International Seminar (YKIS2004) ``Physics of
Strongly Correlated Electron Systems" held at
the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University,
during November 1-19, 2004. Strongly correlated systems like
transition-metal or rare-earth-metal compounds show many
intriguing properties including various types of superconductivity
and magnetism, and studies on these systems have been one
of the central issues in condensed matter physics.
In three mini-workshops and a conference of the YKIS2004,
98 papers were presented to report
recent experimental and theoretical studies on strongly
correlated electron systems. This volume collects 20 theoretical
papers out of them and covers the following main topics:
(1) Unconventional superconductors
(2) Renormalization-group approaches in correlated electron systems
(3) Many-body effects in real materials
(4) Physics of orbital and multipole orders
(5) Metal-insulator transitions
(6) Competing orders, exotic quantum phases, and geometrical frustration
(7) Quantum dissipative systems
All the papers are short reviews written by experts of these topics,
and this volume will be a useful reference on recent progress
for the researchers in this
field as well as a nice introduction for students and non-experts.
