Complexity and Nonextensivity: New Trends in Statistical Mechanics
Proceedings of the International Workshop
Edited by Sumiyoshi Abe, Masa-aki Sakagami and Norikazu Suzuki
There is growing interest in describing/understanding the geometric,
dynamical and statistical properties of complex systems. Key concepts
here may be network structure, glassy dynamics, nonequilibria and
nonextensivity.
The present volume consists of both the research papers and the status
reports presented at the International Workshop on ``Complexity and
Nonextensivity: New Trends in Statistical Mechanics (CN-Kyoto)", which
was held March 14-18, 2005, at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical
Physics, Kyoto University, Japan. Here, diverse problems of complexity
are discussed from the various viewpoints. They may be classified as
follows:
(1) complex networks,
(2) q-statistics, superstatistics,
(3) systems with long-range interactions,
(4) information theory, information geometry,
(5) emerging new fields (econophysics, sociophysics, psychophysics).
This volume will serve as a source of information on these topics
not only for experts but also for non-experts and students interested
in the subjects.
