Brief Summary of Each Supplement
Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement No. 164
Frontiers of Quantum Physics
Proceedings of the International Workshop on Quantum Physics
Edited by Ryoichi Kasahara, Hikaru Kawai, Yukinori Nagataki and Fumihiko Sugino
This volume contains invited lectures presented at the international
workshop ``Frontiers of Quantum Physics'' held at the Yukawa Institute
for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, Japan, from February 17
to 19, 2005.
Quantum physics is one of the most important areas of modern physics,
and it gives an indispensable foundation to a very wide range of fields,
including chemistry, biology, engineering and so on.
In this international workshop, experts on a broad research area covering from
superstring theory, quantum field theory to quantum information theory and
quantum theory of DNA gathered together to communicate each other with
many stimulating discussions.
Also, this workshop was held as the inauguration of the Okayama
Institute for Quantum Physics, and was dedicated to the director Prof. Masao
Ninomiya in celebration of the 60th anniversary of his birth.
This volume will serve as a source of information on the area not only for
experts on each field but also for researchers and students interested in
interdisciplinary new subjects.
