Brief Summary of Each Supplement
Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement No. 184
Frontiers in Nonequilibrium Physics
— Fundamental Theory, Glassy & Granular Materials,
and Computational Physics —
Proceedings of the Yukawa International Seminar 2009 (YKIS2009)
Ed. by H. Hayakawa and H. Wada
This volume of the Supplement is devoted to the proceedings of the 17th
Yukawa International Seminar (YKIS) Workshop and Symposium; that is,
the long-term workshop on "Frontiers in Nonequilibrium Physics
— Fundamental Theory, Glassy & Granular Materials, and Computational
Physics — " held at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics
(YITP) in Kyoto, for 5 weeks from July 21 to August 21, 2009,
including the YKIS Symposium on the same title held on July 31 and August 1,
2009.
Needless to say, nonequilibrium statistical mechanics is one of the
most fundamental issues in physics, in which the framework itself has
not been established. Nevertheless, there exist remarkable progresses
in this field in the last 20 years. The editors believe that this volume
is the best one to researchers and graduate students to know the current
frontiers in the nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. The volume covers
five topics of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, granular physics,
physics of glass transition, fundamental aspects of nonequilibrium
statistical mechanics, computational statistical mechanics and quantum
nonequilibrium physics.
This volume contains 43 papers written for invited talks given in the
workshop. However, some of the papers are completely original ones
whose subjects are a little different from their talks in the workshop.
We hope that these papers bring the flavor of the workshop and recent
trends of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics to the readers.
