Cosmology
— The Next Generation —
Proceedings of the Yukawa International Seminar 2010 (YKIS2010)
and Long-Term Workshop on Gravity and Cosmology 2010 (GC2010)
Ed. by M. Sasaki and T. Tanaka
The Yukawa International Seminar 2010 (YKIS2010), ``Cosmology
— The Next Generation —'', was held at the Yukawa
Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, from June 28th
to July 2nd, 2010. In addition, in conjunction with YKIS2010,
as part of the Yukawa International Program for Quark-Hadron Sciences, a
longterm workshop, Gravity and Cosmology 2010 (GC2010), was held from
May 24th to July 16th, 2010.
With the increase in the precision of observational data and of our
knowledge about the universe, various new areas of research in cosmology have
developed. This recent progress has made cosmology one of the most
interesting and active fields of physics. The purpose of the YKIS2010
symposium was to survey various ideas in gravity and cosmology that are
relevant to current and future observations and to re-examine
them in order to convey a clear message to the next generation. For this
purpose, we invited world-renowned researchers to give lectures on
recent developments and future prospects in their fields of expertise.
The aim of the long-term workshop GC2010 was similar to that of the
YKIS2010 symposium, but with a stronger emphasis on stimulating informal and
intensive discussions among the participants that would lead to
collaborations. We organized a few keynote seminars by invited participants
to overview several topical themes, in addition to seminars given by
regular participants.
This volume contains the works contributed by the invited speakers.
It includes the manuscripts for both the lectures given at
YKIS2010 and the keynote seminars given at GC2010.
