Brief Summary of Each Supplement
Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement No. 195
Nonequilibrium Dynamics in Astrophysics and Materials Science
Proceedings of the International Workshop
Ed. by H. Hayakawa
This volume of the Supplement is devoted to the proceedings of the
International Workshop on "Nonequilibrium Dynamics in Astrophysics
and Materials Science" held at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical
Physics (YITP) in Kyoto, from October 31 to November 3, 2011.
Nonequilibrium dynamics is important in many fields of sciences. The
majority of researchers on nonequilibrium dynamics belong to the
community of condensed matter physics or statistical mechanics, but
there are plenty of examples in astrophysics that nonequilbrium dynamics
plays key roles. The purpose of this workshop is to get together
researchers in different fields and to communicate with each other
for aspects of nonequilbrium dynamics in various physical fields.
Because the backgrounds of the authors of the papers in this volume
are from a variety of fields such as astronomy, hadron physics, fluid
mechanics, statistical physics and plasma sciences, this volume is
unique and instructive for students and young researchers who are a
mbitious to study a new interdisciplinary fields.
This volume contains 14 papers written for invited talks and some
contributed talks given in the workshop. Most of the papers are the
latest reviews for each field. However, some of the papers are
completely original ones whose subjects are a little different from
their talks in the workshop. We hope that these papers bring the
flavor of the workshop to readers and they can know how to apply the
idea of nonequilibrium dynamics to astrophysics and materials science.
