YIQPS international molecule workshop on

Lattice QCD at Finite Density

Molecule: Jan.10 -- Jan.25, 2010
Focused Program: Jan.12 -- Jan.15, 2010
at Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics K202, Kyoto, Japan

Aim

The strong-interacting matter out of quarks and gluons accommodates various states depending on the temperature and the baryon chemical potential. Even in the case without introducing the baryon density, the color-deconfined state of QCD matter, known as a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), has posed theoretical challenges from the experimental side, which has led to a notion of the strongly-correlated QGP or sQGP. Our knowledge on baryon-rich states is quite limited partly because the lattice QCD does not work due to the sign problem and partly because the experimental data is not yet abandunt. A schematic example of the speculated QCD phase diagram is shown below.

The importance of deeper understanding on the dense-QCD phase structure is increasing urged by forthcoming experimental programs -- low-energy scan at RHIC in Brookhaven, CBM experiment at FAIR in GSI, and also at NICA in JINR. In this workshop the lattice QCD and QCD-like theories at finite density are the central topics to be discussed, including some analytical efforts to attack the sign problem.
