Title
Application of Adiabatic piston problem with dry friction to Heat Engine
Abstract
Investigating the extracted work from non-equilibrium systems would give us perspectives
to consider the change of expressions in thermodynamics for non-equilibrium systems from those for equilibrium ones.
Recent examples of such ambitious studies are granular motor or granular ratchet,
where systems are exposed by dissipation or dry friction [1].
In this talk, we discuss the work from the system whose boudary are surrounded by the different temperature and dry friction.
Adiabatic piston problem has a long history.
In its simplest form, it consists of an isolated cylinder with two compartments,
separated by an "adiabatic" piston which is free to move along the axis of symmetry of the cylinder.
The right and left compartments are filled with gases of different temperature under the mechanical equilibrium,
then the final position of the piston cannnot be answered within the context of equilibrium thermodynamics [2].
The piston is known to move toward the gas of higher temperature through the kinetic theoretical analysis [3].
We may expect that the temperature difference would affect the expansion or compression processes of the gas.
By introducing the compound Poissonian (non-Gaussian) process as a model of the kick from gases,
which can be mapped from Boltzman-Lorentz equation,
we will discuss Langevin equation or the velocity distribution functions for the piston.
