Discontinuous shear thickening in dense suspensions with the lattice Boltzmann method
The lattice Boltzmann method has been used to simulate dense suspensions. In order to recover discontinuous shear thickening (DST) with this scheme, we need to modify the original Anthony Ladd's lattice Boltzmann scheme for suspensions by introducing particle contacts and interparticle repulsive force. Our simulation results showed that tangential contacts which include friction are important for the DST.
