入門編の最後に、Niを例に磁性体の磁気モーメントを計算してみましょう。


====== SCF計算 ======

Niは金属なので、Alのときと同様に状態に広がりを持たせる必要があります。
擬ポテンシャルとしてウルトラソフト型の Ni.pz-nd-rrkjus.UPF を使います。

入力ファイルを作ります。

新しく出てきたオプションの意味は次のとおりです。

^変数^説明^
|ecutrho |電荷密度の計算の際の運動エネルギーのカットオフ|
|nspin   |スピン分極しているかどうか。2でz軸方向に分極していることを表します。もし何も指定しなければ1となり磁化は起こりません。|
|starting_magnetization(i)|自己無撞着な計算において、開始時点でのi番目の原子の磁化。1ならすべてアップスピンで、−1ならすべてダウンスピンで開始することを意味します。0から始めてしまうと磁化がでないことに注意します。iは1からntypまでの値をとります。|

ecutrhoは何も指定しなければ自動的にecutwfcの4倍になりますが、ウルトラソフト型の擬ポテンシャルではさらに大きな値が要求されるので変更します。 

それではPWscfを実行します。
計算は金属の場合よりもさらに時間がかかりますが、今回は簡単な構造なのですぐに終わります。

得られた磁気モーメントは以下のように確認します。

一番下の2つの値が、SCF計算の収束によって得られた磁化です。
全磁化（total magnetization）$m_t$と絶対磁化（absolute magnetization）$m_a$の違いは、$n_{\uparrow}(r)$を位置$r$におけるアップスピンの電子数密度、$n_{\downarrow}(r)$をダウンスピンの電子数密度として

で定義されます。 ただし積分範囲は単位胞内です。

強磁性体であれば全磁化と絶対磁化は同じになります。 一方で反強磁性体の場合は全磁化は0になりますが、絶対磁化は1つの原子が持つ磁化の2倍の値になります。

Niの場合は全磁化が実験で0.606 µBであることが知られていて、これに近い値が得られました。
