Main Topics:
  1. Early thermalization of the quark-gluon plasma.
  2. Fundamental reasons and mechanism of the success of the fluid dynamics with small dissipation in comparison to entropy.
  3. Strongly-coupled nature of QCD matter created by the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC).
  4. Initial state of matter in the heavy-ion collision described by the formalism of Color Glass Condensate.
  5. Ground (equilibrium) state of quark matter in the charge and color neutrality (the fate of the gapless phases, the FFLO state v.s. the gluonic phase with or without meson condensation).
  6. Condensed matter physics of the pairing correlations with mismatched Fermi surfaces, including the BCS-BEC crossover.
  7. Lattice QCD and novel non-perturbative approaches such as AdS/CFT correspondence, and so on.
Description:

We are going to hold YITP international workshop entitled ``New Frontiers in QCD 2008 --- fundamental problems in hot and/or dense matter'', Jan. 28th. (Mon.) to March 21st(Fri.), 2008, i.e. next year. This is one of the series of the long-term workshops in the YITP research program which has been newly approved by the government this year; the program is named `Yukawa International Program for Quark-hadron Sciences', abbreviated to YIPQS. The program will continue for five years.

In the present workshop, we plan to focus on the fundamental problems posed by recent experimental and theoretical development in hot and/or dense QCD matter.

The participants to the workshop will be supplied with a desk and can use internet network freely. There will be one (or a few at most) seminars per day. We plan to arrange and encourage mutual discussions among experts, hopefully leading to joint works for new development in this field.

In the middle of the workshop period, we plan to have a four-day long symposium.

Teiji Kunihiro (YITP, Chair, LOC)
Masayuki Asakawa (Osaka)
