subject: NFQCD 2018 & YKIS 2018b announcement Dear Colleagues, This is the second announcement of a long-term staying type workshop including the conference, *---------------------------------------------------------------------* New Frontiers in QCD 2018 (NFQCD 2018) -- Confinement, Phase Transition, Hadrons, and Hadron Interactions -- May 28 -- June 29, 2018, Kyoto, Japan. http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~nfqcd2018/ YKIS 2018b: Recent Developments in Quark-Hadron Sciences June 11 -- 15, 2018, Kyoto, Japan, http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~nfqcd2018/YKIS/index.php *---------------------------------------------------------------------* held at Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto, Japan. * Important dates (deadlines for the registration) With the requests of financial support and/or visa: March 18, 2018. With presentation: April 1, 2018 * Description The workshop is the fifth one of the NFQCD workshop series, which was initiated in 2006 and held also in 2008, 2010 and 2013, under Yukawa International Program for Quark-hadron Sciences. NFQCD 2018 covers some of the subjects discussed in the long-term workshops, New Frontiers in QCD 2013 --- Insight into QCD matter from heavy-ion collisions --- (NFQCD 2013) and Hadrons and Hadron Interactions in QCD 2015 (HHIQCD 2015). The workshop website can be found at http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~nfqcd2018/ YKIS is a series of international conferences annually held in YITP, and is one of the main activities in YITP. YKIS2018b is held in the middle (3rd) week of the workshop. YKIS website is located at http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~nfqcd2018/YKIS/index.php * Aims and Scopes Recent experimental and theoretical studies have been providing deeper understanding of the mutual role of hadrons and partons (quarks and gluons) in hadrons, nuclei, nuclear matter, and hadron-hadron interactions. In the workshop weeks of NFQCD 2018, we focus on confinement, QCD phase transitions, exotic hadrons, and hadron-hadron interactions, which are the subjects to be explored in current/near future experimental facilities and in theoretical works. In the symposium (YKIS 2018b), we extend our scope also to nucleon structure, gauge/gravity correspondence, hadrons in nuclei, and compact star physics, which are also the subjects explored in terrestrial and celestial observations. As in previous NFQCD workshop series, intensive discussion among the participants is strongly encouraged at the meeting. In YKIS, we aim at obtaining wide perspective in quark-hadron sciences. We are going to invite leading scientists in the related fields. * Subjects Subjects to be covered in the workshop (1, 2, 4, 5-th weeks) include (a) Confinement of quarks (b) QCD phase transition at finite temperature and density (c) High energy heavy-ion collisions (d) Critical point and first order phase transition in heavy-ion collisions (e) Exotic hadrons (f) Hadron-hadron interactions (g) Lattice QCD approaches to QCD phase transition and hadron-hadron interactions (h) Related subjects Subjects to be covered in the symposium (3rd week) are as follows. * Nucleon structure * Confinement of quarks * Gauge/Gravity correspondence and holographic QCD * QCD phase transition at finite temperature and density * High energy heavy-ion collisions * Exotic hadrons * Hadron-hadron interactions * Hadrons in nuclei * Quarks and hadrons in compact stars * Lattice QCD approaches to QCD phase transition and hadron-hadron interactions * Related subjects * Schedule The long-term workshop consists of three parts; 1st and 2nd week (May 28-June 1, June 4-8): workshop mainly on subjects (a-d). 3rd week (June 11-15): symposium 4th and 5th week (June 18-22, June 25-29): workshop mainly on subjects (e-g) In the workshop weeks, we plan to hold one or two seminars a day and have a half- or one-day mini symposium in each week. In the symposium of the third week (June 11-15), all the subject will be covered. * Tentative list of invited speakers Daniele Binosi V.G. Desks with internet access will be provided to workshop participants. As the workshop focuses on mutual discussion and collaboration among participants, interested participants, particularly young researchers, are welcome to stay long. We will support your accommodation and local expense up to three weeks within the budget of the workshop. (Support for longer stay is negotiable. See "Local support" section below.) For the participants of the workshop, we are holding a block of rooms at several hotels in Kyoto via a travel agency. The hotel reservation page is http://www.knt.co.jp/ec/2018/New_Frontiers_in_QCD/ Nowadays, hotels in Kyoto will be sold out soon. If you would like to arrange your accommodation by yourself, we strongly recommend to do so as soon as possible. * Travel You can find information on YITP website http://www.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/english/contents/guide/map.html * Registration Please register at the workshop website: http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~nfqcd2018/registration.php Deadline of registration is March 18, 2018. For the participants who request none of the financial support, visa for visiting Japan and the desk, we accept the registration by April 1. * Local support We will support approved participants for their local expenses up to around three weeks. It will be convenient for you to reserve the hotel from the URL, http://www.knt.co.jp/ec/2018/New_Frontiers_in_QCD/ In the case the staying period during the workshop exceeds three weeks, we will contact you. * Contact If you have any question, please contact us at NFQCD2018 LOC . * Organizers S.
