Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the workshop on string theory and quantum field theory in Kyoto.
Please mark your calendar for the following dates.

"Strings and Fields"
Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan
Tuesday, July 22 -- Saturday, July 26

There have been annual workshops in Kyoto on string theory and quantum field theory
for more than 20 years. Last year, around 150 participants gathered and there were
around 40 short talks and 4 long talks as well as poster sessions. This annual workshop
is definitely one of the largest workshops of this field in Japan.

This year we invite some speakers from abroad and all the talks will be in English.
We in particular encourage participation of foreign researchers in Japan.
The Gion Festival, which is one of the most famous festivals in Japan, takes place
annually in Kyoto, and we can enjoy some of the main events of the festival
during this week. The current list of invited speakers is as follows.

Leonardo Rastelli (Stony Brook) **
Shlomo Razamat (IAS) **
Gary Shiu (Hong Kong IAS / Wisconsin-Madison)
Masato Taki (RIKEN)

( ** : to be confirmed )

We will announce the details of the workshop later. We look forward to meeting you all in Kyoto.
