Quantum Information to Open the Future of Science

Quantum information science is an interdisciplinary research field that has been rapidly developing in recent years. There are high expectations that it will offer both next-generation information technology as well as a modern framework for understanding the natural world.

There have been a variety of achievements along this line, showcasing the huge potential application of quantum information to science and tecnology. These applications range from the deep understanding of the elementary components of the spacetime to the numerical simulations of chemical materials for pharmaceutical purposes.

This research unit is the very first organization in Kyoto University that aims to comprehensively develop quantum information. Under the themes of “quantum” and “information”, we push forward various research topics and pave the way to the future of science.
