"Quantum-information thermodynamics"
Takahiro Sagawa (Univ. of Tokyo)
Since the thought experiment of "Maxwell's demon", the relationship between thermodynamics and information has attracted attention in terms of the foundation of the second law of thermodynamic. In this talk, I will discuss our recent results on the generalized second law of thermodynamics with quantum information processing, where a special kind of the quantum mutual information is treated on an equal footing with thermodynamic quantities such as work and heat. As a special example, I will discuss a quantum version of the Szilard engine. Moreover, I will discuss the relationship between quantum thermodynamics and the quantum discord.
