Theor. Phys. approaches to Developmental Biology


• Bubbly Vertex Dynamics -- a dynamical and geometrical model for epithelial tissues with curved cell shapes.
• Some confidential works with experiments in progress ;-)

Soft Matter & Condensed Matter Theories


• 2D membrane models -- prototype mathematical models for various membranes in soft-matter/biophysics. Working with colleagues in the lab.
• DNA & Polymer Chain -- non-flexible and more realistic model of a polymer chain in a heat bath. This is to be applied to DNA or protein folding problems. Collaborated with N. Kikuchi (IISc, Bangalore, India).

Discrete Maths Problems


• Infinite Kolam -- Kolam is a particular decorative pattern born and developed in south India, a topic in ethno-mathematics. Infinite Kolam is one-line drawings (Hitofude-Gaki in Japanese) of such patterns [see for example this page, or this site, or try Wikipedia and Wikipedia@JP]. I created a special web page for Kolam. Mathematical Physics and Particle Theory
• Logarithmic Conformal Field Thoery (2D) -- a new class of theories in CFT. This is the topic of my D.Phil thesis, and one of my primary topics in progress. This class may contain: 1+1D percolation model, Abelian sand pile model, etc.
• Liouville Field Theory -- 2d quantum gravity in the conformal gauge, which is sometimes called 2d minimal gravity or 2d minimal string theory when coupled to minimal CFT. A work is in progress with Al. Zamolodchikov (France). Note there seems to exist Integrability in a broad sense.
• Superconformal Field Thoery (2D) -- 2d N=2,3,4.
• Three-dimensional gravity -- AdS₃/CFT₂, Chern-Simons gauge theory and related topics, Chern-Simons-Witten theory, BTZ Black Holes, etc.
• Supergroups and superalgebras
