Dear Colleagues, The YITP workshop "QCD phase diagram and lattice QCD" [YITP-W-21-09] will be held using ZOOM/REMO/Slack supported by YITP, Kyoto University for October 25-29 2021 (JST). https://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~qcd2021/ *** The invited speakers and talk titles *** Aoki, S. (YITP, Kyoto Univ.), "Recent progress in the HAL QCD method for hadron interactions" Borsanyi, S. (Univ. of Wuppertal), "From extrapolation to direct simulations at finite chemical potential" Cohen, T. (Univ. of Maryland), "The nature of the high temperature phase of Yang Mills theory: night thoughts on the Polyakov loop" Ejiri, S. (Niigata Univ.), "Phase structure of QCD in the heavy quark region" Fukuma, M. (Kyoto Univ.), "Numerical sign problem and the tempered Lefschetz thimble method" Glozman, L. (Univ. of Graz), "Three regimes of hot QCD" Hanada, M. (Univ. of Surrey), "Global Symmetries and Partial Deconfinement" Hasenfratz, A. (Univ. of Colorado), "From two flavors to twelve: the opening of the conformal window" Hashimoto, S. (KEK/Sokendai), "Role and subtlety of lattice chiral symmetry in finite temperature QCD" Kitazawa, M. (Osaka Univ.), "Stress-energy-momentum tensor on the lattice" Lahiri, A. (Bielefeld Univ.), "QCD towards the chiral limit" Lombardo, M.P. (INFN Firenze), "A new order parameter, and the scaling window of the QCD transition" McLerran, L. (Univ. of Washington), "Quarkyonic and Ghosts" Philipsen, O. (Goethe Univ. Frankfurt), "The order of the QCD chiral phase transition for different numbers of quark flavours" Pisarski, R. (BNL), "Surprises in the phase diagram of QCD at nonzero density" Shuryak, E. (Stony Brook Univ.), "Semiclassical theory of deconfinement and chiral phase transitions, in the usual and deformed QCD" Takeda, S. (Kanazawa Univ.), "Study of QCD critical end-point using Wilson-type fermions" Yamada, N. (KEK/Sokendai), "Peeking into the theta vacuum" The workshop program including the abstracts for all the talks and posters is available on the website. *** To the participants *** The talks will be given online via zoom. To help stimulate the online discussion, we kindly ask the participants to join the Slack workspace, whose link has already been sent to all the participants. Another online tool, REMO, will be used for the coffee breaks. The link will be provided through email soon. Slack is a chat communication tool, where you can easily put files or web links and so on. We also plan to put the links of the recorded videos for all the talks there. The slack communication would be useful also for those who cannot have a real time discussion due to time zone difference. We use REMO for coffee breaks. REMO is a real-time conversation tool like zoom but with avatars in a virtual space. In the room, you will find tables. When you sit down one of the seats, you can have a conversation with the limited participants sitting at the same table. This tool is nice for having a discussion or chat within a small group. Let us have a coffee in the REMO room with the speakers of the previous session, so that you can ask detailed questions etc in a smaller group. *** To the speakers *** We kindly ask the speakers to appear on zoom 5 min before the first talk of the same session and test the voice, slides, pointer and so on. The talk time is 35min + 5min for long talks or 17min + 3min for short talks. We also kindly ask the speakers to post the slides on the slack channel as soon as possible after the talk (It is even better if they make them out before their talks). This will help those who cannot access the on-time presentations, due to timezone difference or possible network problem. A separate slack channel is provided for each day. We kindly ask the speakers to enter REMO (the virtual coffee room) after the session, so that the participants can further discuss or ask questions about the talks during the coffee break. *** Online dinner/lunch/breakfast *** At the end of the workshop, we plan to have the online conference dinner/lunch/breakfast from 20:00 to 21:00 JST on October 29th. The participants are encouraged to turn on camera for this event. Please join with your favorite dishes and drinks. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.
