From the Standard Model to Grand Unified Theories
Proceedings of the 6th Yukawa International Seminar
Edited by M. Bando, K. Inoue and T. Kugo
The present status of theoretical particle physics is that the
standard model is being established more and more firmly though the
precision experiments at LEP, while it still remains unclear what is
the theory beyond the standard model which is bound to exist, for
instance, due to the facts of charge quantization and anomaly
cancellation between quarks and leptons. During the past two decades,
much effort and attempts have been made beyond the standard model, and
many insights and a great amount of knowledge have been accumulated
through active studies in various fields. It would be quite
appropriate to reconsider the present status of the standard model and
examine critically various ideas and attempts towards unified
theories.
This volume contains the proceedings of "From the Standard Model to
Grand Unified Theories" held at Kyoto International Conference Hall in
August 1995. This volume includes topics on supersymmetric standard
model, technicolor, grand unified theories, supergravity and
superstring. Among many excellent talks, remarkable new developements
in the duality in supersymmetric gauge theories and string theories
attracted many participants.
This volume informs readers of the present status of reserach of this
field and will give some hints for those who are intersted in this
fields.
