高温・高密度の量子色力学を検証するため、クオーク・グルーオンプラズマ探索
の本格的実験がまもなくＲＨＩＣにおいて開始される。
この実験開始を目前にして、
現在まで到達した知見をまとめ当面する理論的課題を明らかにするため、
International School on the Physics of Quark Gluon Plasma
(June 3-6, 1997, Hiroshima)
と YITP Workshop on Physics of Relativistic Heavy
Ion Collisions (June 9-11, YITP, Kyoto)
が開催された。 このSupplement にはこのふたつの会議で行われた
第一線の研究者による
超高エネルギー核衝突と形成された高温・高密度状態の理論、
クオーク・グルーオンプラズマの現象的理論と検証実験、
高温・高密度の摂動的量子色力学に関する講義と最新の研究結果の
講演が収録されている。 また、非摂動量子色力学の第一原理計算
である有限温度格子ＱＣＤシミュレーションの最新の結果のレビューも
収録されている。
