Non-Perturbhative QCD
Structure of the QCD Vacuum

Proceedings of the 8th Yukawa International Seminar

Edited by Ken-Ichi Aoki, Osamu Miyamura and Tsuneo Suzuki

The non-perturbative analysis of the Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD), particularly structure of the QCD vacuum, is one of the most fundamental subjects in theoretical high energy physics. To understand basic mechanisms of the quark confinement, the chiral symmetry breaking, finite temperature phase transition have been studied extensively by numerical simulation of the lattice QCD. Recently there appear new progress in rigorous argument using supersymmetric QCD and in analysis by the non-perturbative renormalization group. The duality and topological objects play essential roles in these issues and we expect great development of the near future.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 1997 Yukawa International Seminar on `Non-perturbative QCD — Structure of the QCD Vacuum —' held at Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics in December 1997. Researchers from various fields gathered together to give lectures for each other and then to discuss new topics. These lectures start from the very introduction of lattice simulation, renormalization group, supersymmetry, topological objects, finite temperature, etc., and they finally lead to recent developments of various topics. Therefore this volume is very much appropriate for young students coming into theoretical high energy physics, and also it gives good reviews of the present status and future prospects to every researchers.
