This volume contains the proceedings for
``VIII Asia-Pacific International Conference
on Gravitation and Astrophysics (ICGA8)
— For the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Hideki
Yukawa and Promotion of Women Scientists —"
held at Nara Women's University from August 29 to September 1, 2007.
This was the eighth in a series of conferences
which have been held every two years since 1993
in the Asia-Pacific region;
Korea, Taiwan, Japan, China and Russia.
This time it had two special aspects:
One is to celebrate
``The 100th anniversary of the birth of Hideki Yukawa'',
the first Nobel Prize laureate in physics from East Asia.
The other is to promote women researchers in our field
taking advantage that the conference
was held at Nara Women's University.
The main topics in this conference were the following:
(1) Relativistic astrophysics and cosmology
(2) Quantum gravity, branes and unified theories
(3) Experiments/observations in gravity and astrophysics
(4) Numerical relativity
(5) Dark matter and dark energy
This volume contains original papers by distinguished theorists
and experimentalists, which are expanded from their lectures at
the conference, and provides knowledge about
cutting-edge research in gravitation and astrophysics.
This volume is recommeded to both researchers and graduate students
who are interested in the general area of gravitation and astrophysics.
