"Typical pure states and nonequilibrium statistical mechanics"

Abstract

Probability distributions contain all the information on fluctuating quantities such as the entropy production in nonequilibrium mesoscopic systems. We show that the intrinsic thermal nature of typical pure quantum states enables us to calculate many-body correlated quantities such as the probability distributions with the use of only a single wave-function. For example, we can accurately calculate the fluctuations of entropy production including the so-called large deviation.
