Title

"Effective Temperature in Nonequilibrium Steady States from AdS/CFT"

Shin Nakamura (Nagoya University)

Abstract

The AdS/CFT correspondence is a map between a gauge theory and a gravity theory. We can compute various physical quantities such as correlation functions of current operators under a given condition. We can setup a nonequilibtuim steady state (NESS) with a constant flow of charged gauge particles where the house-keeping heat is deposited to the heat bath. Interestingly, a notion of black hole appears in the NESS sector in the gravity side, indicating the presence of the notion of the effective temperature of NESS. The effective temperature, that is given by the Hawking temperature of the black hole of the NESS sector, is different from the temperature of the heat bath in general. I will overview the computation of the effective temperature in AdS/CFT and will report some original results.
