Title

H-theorems and statistical forces outside equilibrium

Abstract

H-theorems and statistical forces we review some work mostly in collaboration with Karel Neto on the physical significance of static large deviations (nonequilibrium free energies).
They play a role as Lyapunov functions and for the understanding of thermodynamic stability of the steady nonequilibrium condition. They also appear as statistical forces in nonequilibrium response theory and in effective dynamics for systems connected to nonequilibrium reservoirs.
