YITP long-term workshop

Gravity and Cosmology 2022

January 31 - March 4, 2022
Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University

Important Notice

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19),
1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th weeks: Cancelled.
3rd week: We hold YKIS2022a "Gravity - The Next Generation-" either online or in a hybrid style (combination of online and on-site).

On this long-term workshop

In 2007, Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) started a new project "Yukawa International Program of Quark-Hadron Sciences (YIPQS)" funded by Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In this project we select research topics for each long-term workshop and invite leading experts to stimulate discussion and to foster collaborations among workshop participants.

This time, we hold "Gravity and Cosmology 2022", as a successor of the four long-term workshops held under the same title in the past (2007, 2010, 2012 and 2018). The aim of the workshop is to have comprehensive and intensive discussions on the rapidly expanding frontiers of physics of gravity and cosmology.

During the workshop, participants stay at YITP with desks and other facilities. They can take ample time for discussions with other participants in a relaxed atmosphere of Kyoto.

Main themes of each week

  • 1st week (January 31 - February 4): Observational cosmology
  • 2nd week (February 7 - 11): Inflation/dark matter/dark energy
  • 3rd week (February 14 - 18): YKIS2022a "Gravity -- The Next Generation --"
  • 4th week (February 21 - 25): Gravitational-wave astronomy/cosmology
  • 5th week (February 28 - March 4): Gravity beyond general relativity
