Title: Characterising the Entropy of a Quantum Channel

Abstract: Entropy is a central quantity in many areas of physics, and has been defined in multiple different ways in different contexts (for example, the Gibbs entropy and Shannon entropy). Despite these diverse definitions, one unifying property is that every entropy can be understood as some measure of uncertainty of a physical system. This talk will define the entropy of a quantum channel, and provide an operational meaning for this entropy in terms of games of chance. Given that quantum channels include quantum measurements as special cases, our results also provide a way to characterise the entropy of quantum measurements.
