YITP workshop on

Recent Developments in
Quantum Physics of Black Holes 2023

April 3–7, 2023
Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University

Much remains to be understood about the quantum/microscopic physics of black holes. Recently the island conjecture based on the Ryu-Takayanagi and QES formulas gave strong evidence that the Hawking radiation contains the information of what has fallen inside the black hole. However, we still lack a physical understanding of how. The aim of this workshop is to explore and clarify the inner microscopic workings of black holes and quantum gravity, based on various approaches such as microstate geometries, worldsheet CFT, and the AdS/CFT correspondence.

The purpose of the workshop is to invite domestic and international researchers working in these and related fields, review the current status of the fields, and provide an interacting atmosphere where the participants can have relaxed discussions and start new collaborations to explore the microscopic physics of black holes.
