Entanglement and Shannon Entropies in Quantum Many-Body Systems
Masaki Oshikawa (Univ. of Tokyo)
In the context of quantum many-body problem, entanglement provides a new tool to characterize different quantum phases. A notable example is the "topological entanglement entropy". On the other hand, other "information-theoretic" measures may be also useful in characterizing various quantum phases. I will discuss a basis-dependent Shannon entropy of quantum state and its relation to the entanglement entropy, and its universal behaviors in several quantum spin systems.
