"Second law of thermodynamics for isolated quantum systems"
Hal Tasaki (Gakushuin Univ.)
We discuss the derivation of the second law of thermodynamics in macroscopic isolated quantum systems where the initial state is a pure state. The second law can be violated when the outside agent can make use of complete information of the initial state and can design an arbitrary unitary transformation. We shall show, among other things, that the second law is almost certainly valid when the information about the initial state is limited.
